Jobs are how you make legitimate money. Each one has a sign-up NPC. Pay scales with experience (XP) earned on shift; some jobs gate level progression behind paid certificates from the Vocational College.
No-license starters
- Foundry — El Burro foundry, melt scrap into ingots (Vocational cert pays more)
- Builder — construction site, levels up for better pay
- Warehouse — packing job at the docks
- Supply — restock the city's shops from the dock depot
Jobs needing a non-driving licence
- Fishing — cast off along the coast, sell the catch. Getting HIRED needs a Fishing Licence, examined by the dock boss himself (-1841, -1235) — not the driving school. Fishing for fun needs no licence at all; only selling without one is poaching. See below.
Driving jobs (need a license)
B license:
- Taxi (Taxi Depot, East Vinewood)
- Valet (casino forecourt — park guests' cars)
- Courier
- Pizza boy
- Food delivery
- Mining (you drive the work truck; Vocational cert pays more)
- Farmer
- Fruit picker
C license:
- Garbage (trash truck, 19-stop dumpster route, crew of up to 3)
- Cargo trucker (freight board on the phone; convoy bonus for shared loads)
- Lumberjack
- Tow truck
- Breakdown recovery
- Security transport (squad job, 1-4 players)
D license:
- Bus driver (fixed routes)
- Airport shuttle (LSIA <-> hotel)
- Tram
Fishing without the job
Fishing is the one trade you don't have to be hired for. Buy a rod and some bait at ^2Bait & Tackle^0 on Del Perro Pier, walk to any water in the state, and ^2use the bait^0 (not the rod) to cast. Wait for the bite, then hit ^2E^0 inside the green bar to reel it in.
Sell what you catch to the ^2fishmonger^0, a few steps down the same pier.
- Broke? A ^2shovel^0 from the hardware store digs worms for free.
- A better ^2rod^0 reaches better fish AND widens the reel window.
- A better ^2bait^0 makes the good fish bite more often.
- The best fish live in ^2deep water^0 — you need the rod and a boat.
Taking the job on top of this pays you an hourly wage, and the boss buys your catch above the fishmonger's price. Fishing itself is free.
Not on the jobs board
Mechanic — a real job, but there's no sign-up NPC and it isn't in the phone. Staff assign it. You can wrench without the Auto Tech Academy cert; you just can't charge anyone until you have it. Police — apply at the LSPD Reception Desk. See /guide lspd. EMS — paramedic / hospital roles (similar pipeline planned).
Paycheque
You're paid at the end of a shift. Tax is withheld at payment time (see /guide taxes).
