Almost everything you touch in the world — cars, doors, shop counters, ATMs, fuel pumps, job sign-up NPCs — is reached the same way. Learn this one control and you're set.
The one control to remember
- Hold LEFT ALT. A crosshair appears and nearby things you can use get a small marker.
- Aim the crosshair at the thing (a car door, an NPC, a counter).
- A menu of actions pops up next to it.
- LEFT-CLICK the action you want.
- Release ALT to go back to normal.
Hold to use, release to stop — it is NOT a press-once toggle. Works on foot and from inside a vehicle.
What it replaces
No memorising a command for every object. Fuel pumps, car locks, garages, shop tills, vending machines, job boards and most NPC services all live behind the ALT menu. Slash commands are reserved for the portable stuff you carry with you — your phone, /me, admin tools.
If you hold ALT and nothing shows up, you're either too far away (step closer — most things work within about 7 metres) or that object just isn't interactive.
